SnipeNScore Productions – The Voice Behind The Rosters

Hockey fandom comes in many flavors. Whether you are a fan of playing the game yourself, watching others play the game, playing hockey video games, or in the case of Cody creating rosters and content for use with the NHL video game series. I personally love the things he is doing to push the boundaries of what is possible with the NHL rosters and he has graciously agreed to do an interview for me so that I could share a little bit more about who he is and what he does with all of you.

How did he find Hockey?

Cody Found his love for hockey pretty early in life. Around the age of nearly 7 years old, his mom attended an Ottawa Senators game with some of her friends. that was the spark that got her interested in the sport. since Cody was her oldest child one fateful day in February of 2003 she took him to an Ottawa Senators game. That single experience, as is often similar with many of us Hockey fans out there was enough to hook him on the sport, and specifically the team from that point on. He has a journal entry from that night he wrote as a kid with the ticket stub and the last thing he wrote about the game was “It was the best night!”

“It was the best night!”

Creating hockey content was something that has helped him in many ways in his own life and it can be something that can be an inspiration to many of us as well. Through high school and his early years of college, he struggled with social anxiety and depression. Enough to the extent of eventually having to drop out of college. This made him want to find something that he could do as a hobby while working full-time.

He found his love of making videos again and hockey/gaming was at the forefront. Earlier in his life, he had played with video editing and uploaded some very low-quality videos of the NHL 11 demo on an old channel. He credits his inspiration to try again to people such as 2BC, Nasher, and some non-hockey creators such as Markiplier and others.

He finally decided to get a capture card and the confidence to talk on video. So in the summer of 2016, he bought a capture card and that is exactly what he did. Social anxiety and depression are never a fun situation, or one I would wish on anyone. I do admire the way he decided to challenge himself in ways that were not comfortable at first and become a better more confident person through the years creating content for a topic that he loves.

This is something that we can all learn from and try and apply in our own lives. We may not all struggle with social anxiety or depression, but we all have something we do struggle with in life, and if we try we can turn those struggles into something positive for not only ourselves but for those around us as well.

What exactly is it that he does?

His official title is that of an “EA NHL Content Creator.” his content can be found on YouTube and he focuses on mostly the offline aspects of the NHL franchise. Things such as franchise mode and building rosters for it.

Starting with NHL 19 he began the start of what he is doing now. Creating full-blown historical rosters for the NHL games. For those of you who do not know the NHL video game franchises do not have much in terms of historical rosters. They have in recent years started to add some “all-time teams” or a historical all-star team and things of that nature.

“The coolest experience I’ve had is probably the experience as a whole.”

What Cody does goes far beyond that. He creates entire historic league years. This includes all the teams with all the historic players with ratings and adjustments to them to make it possible to actually play through a franchise mode season with those classic teams and players that so many love. You can also find some occasional MLB the show, and floor hockey content from him as well. During the off-season and summer months especially.

His best moment of the journey so far has been the whole journey itself. This is what he had to say about the coolest hockey-related experience he’s had so far…

“The coolest experience I’ve had is probably the experience as a whole. Might sound cheesy but going through the tough times to experience the real heights. Like Ive seen from where I was to where I am now on a confidence aspect and it’s pretty remarkable looking back at. As well, just meeting all the cool people in the community and talking about ideas is just awesome. As someone who was shy and such in high school it’s a perfect way to meet new friends.

More recently Cody was accepted into the EA partner program. I was personally very excited when I saw him post the news. I know how hard he’s been working and I have personally enjoyed playing with some of his historic rosters over the years. This was what he had to say about getting accepted to the program.

It felt amazing! Back in NHL 19 EA shared my roster build video on their twitter and followed me so I thought I was gonna get in way back then but had to grind content for another 4 years before getting in. Along the way though I’ve met a ton of great connections that have helped me get to this point and getting into the program so I wouldn’t be here without them.

The experience has been great. Lots of good insights on what they are doing to get NHL back up to standard currently and down the road. Also great to see them listening to some of the stuff other game changers had voiced. Unfortunately I didn’t get invited to go to the community day event they had a few weeks back but I hope I get to one day so I could hang out and shoot the shit with some awesome other creators and the devs!

Currently, he is not working with any sponsors. He doesn’t want to work with just anyone as he wants any potential sponsorship deal to be one that would fit with both his audience as well as the hockey sphere.

If there are any potential sponsors out there who are in the hockey community and think that they would fit well with him and the kinds of content that he produces I hope that you take a few minutes to reach out.

Where can he be found?

SnipeNScore Productions is the company name that he publishes his content under. You can find his YouTube channel here. You can also see some of the roster work that he has done in the past at Throwback Rosters.

In the future, he may look to doing some more with Twitch, but for right now YouTube is the main place he posts his content.

If you are looking to use any of the rosters you can do so if you have an Xbox Series X/S. That is the platform that he has and creates the rosters on. Unfortunately for the time being the current iterations of the NHL franchise do not support cross-platform roster files. Hopefully, that will change in a future edition maybe in NHL 25? (Maybe he can suggest it at the next EA meeting).
